Liminal States

Église du Sacré-Cœur-de-Jésus (Montréal) | 3 SEPTEMBER 2025, at 19:30
Pre-Concert vernissage at 18:30

Earth World Collaborative presents "Liminal States," an immersive concert from artistic directors Adrian Foster and Joel Peters featuring new works for organ and electronics, with live projections by Anthony Piazza.

The central theme of the concert is liminality, evoking a transitional space between silence and sound, between texture and harmony, between pitch and noise.

This event serves as the inaugural concert for the brand new mobile and experimental organ LIMINARE (for "organum liminare," or "liminal organ"). Built by Montreal organbuilder Alexander Ross with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, LIMINARE reinvents and transforms the concept of traditional organ music with a fully dynamic instrument capable of variable wind pressure from zero to extreme over-pressure. LIMINARE liberates the pipe organ from the constraints of the traditional keyboard and equal-tempered scale, with unique mechanical innovations and a microtonal, spectral pitch concept centred on the justly tuned harmonic series. The concert will be preceded by a vernissage at 18:30 to celebrate this new instrument.

This concert is made possible with the support of the Conseil des arts de Montréal and is presented in collaboration with Les Vespérales de l’orgue du Sacré-Cœur, Suoni per il popolo, and the Canadian International Organ Competition (CIOC)
